There was no joy for our Melbourne University 1st XI, who were bettered by Casey South Melbourne 1st XI in a disappointing result.
Over the course of the match we totalled 149, and Casey South Melbourne 1st XI 2/395. Finlay Bean led the way with 43 off 64 balls with three fours. Dhruv Poojari Redhu contributed 40 off 93 balls. Muhammad Irfan claimed three for 41 for our opponents. Finlay Gordon backed up with three for 54 for the hosts.
With the ball, Tom Walker did the damage, claiming two for 78 off eighteen overs. Hats off to Gordon, whose 200 not out was a polished century for our opponents. Credit to Ashley Chandrasinghe, who made a century (152) for the hosts.
There are plenty of positives to take out of this one. We will be looking to get back in the winning column soon. Well played to our opponents.
