It was a tough day out for our Melbourne University Over 40 1st XI, who came off second best against Hawthorn Boroondara Over 40 1st XI at St. James Park in Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) - Veterans.
We posted 7/174, and Hawthorn Boroondara Over 40 1st XI 8/176. Jeff Baker batted well for the hosts, making 40 off 39 balls. Our best with the ball was Ben Costello, who took three for 23. There were also wickets for Gregory Kennedy (two for 13).
Matthew Hewat batted well for 43 off 25 balls with five fours and three sixes. Stewart Harris made 42 off 69 balls.
There are plenty of positives to take out of this one.
Plenty to work on, and plenty to like.
