It was a terrific day for our Melbourne University 1st XI, who were too good for Carlton 1st XI thanks to Henry Melville's 56.
Our bowlers restricted Carlton 1st XI to 7/213 from 50 overs. Harrison Smyth made a classy 51 for the hosts, a well-deserved half-century. Tom Smyth weighed in with 40 for our opponents. The wickets were shared around, with Douglas Warren taking three for 31.
In reply, the side reached the target at 5/217 in 46 overs. Henry Melville passed fifty on the way to 56 off 70 balls with seven fours. Harrison Barnes remained unbeaten with 47 off 86 balls. Solid support came from Yuvraj Singh, who made 39.
Contributions came from right through the line-up.
A day to enjoy for everyone at Melbourne University.
